Adult Day Center

Your Partner in Caregiving

Our Adult Day Center, a social adult day program model, offers a warm and supervised environment for older adults to enjoy a meaningful day filled with activity and socialization. Through a structured schedule and customized programming, the social, cognitive and personal care needs of our members are met.

In addition to providing companionship and activity, the Center offers an economical alternative to daily in-home care. Adult day services may help avoid the difficult choice to move your loved one to a long-term care facility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an interview process?

Yes. The interview is important. We acquire health and background information that helps determine if the prospective member would benefit from our program. As part of the interview we have the prospective member join in the morning activity while we talk with their caregiver. The interview is free and without any obligations.

I work part-time. Can my parent attend only on the days that I am working?

Our minimum attendance is two days per week. Although we are open from 8:00am to 4:30pm, we encourage members to be present at least from 10:00am to 3:00pm. This is when our formal programming takes place.

What are some indications that adult day services might be appropriate for my loved one?

If your loved one exhibits any of the following, there might be concern for their isolation and/or safety at home, and could benefit from our supervised, group setting:

· Not eating well or forgetting to eat
· Doesn’t socialize any longer
· Sleeps most of the day, minimal movement
· Showing signs of short-term memory loss and confusion

Can my loved one still take medications while at the Center?

Yes. Medications are administered at lunchtime by a registered nurse from the VNA of Somerset Hills. A doctor’s order is necessary, our medication wavier has to be signed, non-expired container from the pharmacy exactly marked with the medication inside, and just enough meds for the amount of days per month that the member is attending. There is no fee for this service.
