Adult Day Center Celebrates 30 Years Benefiting Community
Since 1988, the warm setting of the Adult Day Center at Somerset Hills has been welcoming its members to a meaningful day filled with companionship and activity. From June 2-8, 2018, members of the community can attend special 30th anniversary week events that highlight the programs and benefits the Center provides to older adults and their loved ones.
The Adult Day Center was established by the nonprofit home care agency, VNA of Somerset Hills, and through the hard work and dedication from a grassroots effort led by Basking Ridge residents, Cynthia Wynant and Natalie Ambrose. Both recognized that there was a great need for adult day services in the immediate population, and worked tirelessly to make the Center a reality.
For daughters and caregivers Cheryl and Carrie, the Center has provided tremendous benefit in helping their mother, Mary Ann, remain living independently at home while coping with the challenges of early Alzheimer’s. “We know that the staff looks after her and that they truly care about the attendees. They are always so attentive and friendly, and never seem to be stressed or impatient with anyone,” said Cheryl and Carrie. “We appreciate that they anticipate her needs and make her feel comfortable. It is reassuring to us that she is in a safe, environment for the day, that she is eating, and that she is socializing with people her own age and having a good time.”
